Back on a sunny day in July, those of us who were in school celebrated our Year 6 children with a socially distanced leavers’ assembly. We were very sorry that parents were not allowed to be present. Some stood on Piccadilly and tried to see and hear a little of the proceedings and some watched via zoom. We know neither of these options were ideal and we hope that you enjoy looking at these photographs.

During the assembly, we prayed, reminisced, sang and the children performed a beautiful liturgical dance. Each child was awarded a certificate in recognition of their individual qualities, from having a great sense of humour, to a being a devoted faithful friend. From being a great IT support to being loving and kind to others. Every year, one girl and one boy are awarded with the ‘Governor’s Award’. This is for  demonstrating outstanding effort, perseverance, hard work and resilience. This year the award went to Roxy and Edwin. Congratulations to both of them –  very well deserved.

We also said ‘Goodbye’ to Mrs Bell and Miss Johnson, who have now moved on to the next stage in their careers. We wish them well.

So to our soon to be year 7 pupils. You have been such a special class and we wish you all the very best as you move onto the next stage of your education. Remember to be kind, love learning and embrace every opportunity. Love from everyone at school xxx

Today is the last of the posts for Wild June. Well done if you have completed some of them, don’t forget to send a message about which ones you did.

Its creative words today- a haiku is

 Haiku

A haiku is a 3 line poem that follows a syllable pattern.

They are usually about nature.

Line 1- 5 syllables     An old deep green pond

Line 2-7 syllables     A green  frog jumps in quickly

Line 3-5 syllables     The sound of water.

Or you could create your own fact sheet about a minibeast or mammal in your garden.

Hopefully you have found some interesting wildlife in your garden or the local area over the past few weeks.

Today it is drawing a map of those interesting features, maybe it is the big tree, the habitat home, the birds nest or the water feature. Try and draw a map or collage it to make it 3D. Ideas below. Have a look at the RHS for their ideas.  https://schoolgardening.rhs.org.uk/resources/activity/draw-a-map-of-your-garden

Maybe we will see rainbows in the sky if it rains today, but I wonder how many rainbow colours you can find in your garden. Have a look at your flowers, trees and minibeasts today to see how many you can find.

Well done if you are having a go at some of the wild tasks. Today you can create a home for your garden friends. One of my boxes is in use now for busy bees and bugs. Remember to ask a grown up for help.

Remember how Mrs Herbert would find calm with your class and meditate with Cosmic Kids? Try and find some quiet time in your garden today. I wonder what sounds you will hear?
